The Legacy of Mr. Cliff
Nestled in the rolling hills of Chatham, Virginia, over 100 years ago, there lived a man named Clifton Fuller.
Raised on a small, rural family farm, somehow he developed a deep appreciation for the finer things in life. His father and grand-father shared with him their love of finely crafted bourbon whiskey, teaching him the family secrets. And, when the time was right, they entrusted him with the hand-written formula that had been in the family for generations. Soon to be known as Mr. Cliff’s Premium Bourbon Whiskey.
Clifton (aka Mr. Cliff) understood that the key to creating extraordinary spirits began with sourcing the finest, locally-grown ingredients. He hand-selected the finest corn, barley, and rye, meticulously tending to each crop with care and reverence.
Every batch of Mr. Cliff’s gave special meaning to hand-crafted. Mr. Cliff personally selected all ingredients, meticulously adding just the right amount of each, then he tended to the process of slow brewing, careful cooling and finally adding his special brew to bottles, or jars, with handmade labels.
During Prohibition word of Mr. Cliff’s exceptional spirits quickly spread throughout the American mid-west. His distillery became a gathering place of Bourbon lovers from all walks of life. From politicians, prominent businessmen, Federal and local law enforcement, and some of the most notorious gangsters of the era were all friends of Mr. Cliff and together they enjoyed the
exceptional quality of his Bourbon.
Legend has it that Pretty Boy Floyd, one of the most notorious gangsters during
Prohibition, would visit Mr. Cliff regularly, driving from Floyd’s base in Ohio to Mr. Cliff’s distillery hidden in the hills of Virginia. Floyd, accompanied by his fleet of cars and trucks, would often buy all the product that Mr. Cliff had available at any given time, soon becoming Mr. Cliff’s unofficial distributor to “speakeasies” throughout the mid-west.
Both Pretty Boy Floyd and Mr. Cliff were known to always be impeccably dressed, even having their flamboyant suits custom-made by the same tailor. Floyd had so much respect for Mr. Cliff that he gave him a solid-gold pocket watch that Mr. Cliff wore every day for the rest of his life. A nephew of Mr. Cliff’s inherited his watch and still has it to this very day.
The legacy lives on
Mr. Cliff passed in sometime in the late 1990’s and was missed by all he touched.
However, his legacy doesn’t end here. A few bottles of Mr. Cliff’s Premium Bourbon
Whiskey hand-crafted by the master himself, as well as his grand-father’s hand-written formula, exist to this very day…passed down the next generation.
So, after over 30 years, Mr. Cliff’s Premium Bourbon Whiskey, based on the original family recipe, is now available for every Bourbon lover the enjoy. Just the way his grandfather, father and Mr. Cliff intended it to. Find a bottle and share it with your closest friends and family. And give a toast to Mr. Cliff and those who came before him before him. That’s what living is all about.
